Pathological Studies on Experimental Nephritis Induced by Candida albicans in Mice

Abstract
An experimental study was conducted to investigate the pathogenesis of nephritis by pretreatment with glycerine saline(GS). Several groups of mice were inoculated subcutaneously with GS, subsequently mice were given Candida albicans (CA) intravenously to induce nephritis. And then, the histopathological lesions in kidney weee followed regular intervals for 3 weeks of experimental period.
The results obtained were follows;
The lesions of kidney in mice pretreated with GS were characterized by an acute nephrosis with neutrophil infiltration at 24 hours after CA inoculation. From 3 days after inoculation, mice were exhibited severe inflammatory reactions. In addition, many abscesses containing masses of fungus were presented in the interstitial tissues of kedney. At 7 days after inoculation, principal lesions are proliferation of connective tissues around the abscess, and the abscess and necrotic foci were substituted by connective tissues from 3 weeks after inoculation. Nephritis induced by CA were agravated by pretreating the mice with GS.
